  • Yuba County OKs Solar Power Deal

    Yuba County supervisors have authorized the installation of a $5.8 million, 1.6 kilowatt solar project at the county airport, to be implemented by OPTERRA Energy Services. Construction will be funded by Clean Renewable Energy Bonds and the county will save about $165,000 a year over the 20-year life of the program.

  • Jefferson Elementary School District marks anniversary of Solar Energy and Sustainability Project with successful report

    During the last board meeting of the academic year, Jefferson Elementary School District officials received the good news that its conservation and renewable energy project is outperforming original savings estimates and inspiring students across the district through innovative STEM education links to the project.

  • San Jose Flips Switch on LED Streetlights

    San Jose has started what officials said today is the largest streetlight conversion project in the country, retrofitting 18,000 lights using 1970s technology with LED lights that will cut energy costs by more than half. The lights will save the city millions in future energy costs and reduce carbon emissions. Mayor Sam Liccardo and Councilmen Ash Kalra and Johnny Khamis honored the project at a brief ceremony in South San Jose where one of the “Smart Streetlights” was turned on.

  • Mayor Looks Back on Milestones of 2014

    In 2014, the City of Simi Valley, California, continued to pursue options to increase energy efficiency and save taxpayer dollars at city facilities, in partnership with OPTERRA. The city and OPTERRA developed a scope of work for increased energy efficiency at city facilities, including the potential for solar, biogas and the acquisition of streetlights citywide for conversion to LED.
