Turnkey Energy Conservation
OpTerra can comprehensively evaluate commercial buildings for energy efficiency upgrades. We identify opportunities, develop and engineer the projects, obtain Utility and Tax benefits and install the project for a fixed cost.
We specialize in analysis of buildings that address all systems - lighting, HVAC, envelope, water systems and all fuel types - electricity, gas, purchased steam, etc. If the building warrants a comprehensive analysis, OpTerra will model the existing building systems and energy use with eQUEST software and determine the interaction of proposed energy conservation upgrades.
OpTerra's engineers have developed expertise in the process of identifying energy conservation measures in facilities, qualifying the measures for appropriate utility incentives and providing the final engineering and construction services to install the measures as design/build projects. We enjoy an excellent reputation for developing energy conservation projects that meet Utility and customer satisfaction.
Utility Incentive Qualification
Many electric and gas utilities have programs for their commercial and industrial customers that provide incentive rebates for the implementation of qualifying energy saving projects. While these programs are extremely helpful in encouraging their customers to upgrade their systems to more efficient solutions, each utility has different rules and qualification methods that need to be followed to guarantee that the projects implemented will receive rebates. We work closely with the utilities and provide the required services to bring these incentives to our customers.
OpTerra has participated in utility programs for over eighteen years and its engineers are skilled in qualifying efficiency measures for prescriptive, custom and comprehensive utility incentives. Last year we obtained over $3 million of incentives for efficiency projects at our customer facilities.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), provides a set of standards for environmentally sustainable construction.
LEED certified buildings consume resources more efficiently as compared to conventional buildings which are simply built to code. LEED certified buildings end up as healthier working and living environments, which contributes to higher productivity and improved employee health and comfort. The USGBC has also compiled a long list of benefits of implementing a LEED strategy which ranges from improving air and water quality to reducing solid waste.
The fundamental reduction in environmental impacts in addition to all of the economic and occupant benefits goes a long way for making a case for green building. It is also important to note that these benefits are reaped by anyone who comes into contact with the project which includes owners, occupants and society as a whole.
OpTerra has LEED Accredited Professional engineers on staff and can provide LEED certification services for existing buildings.
